Christmas time....

Well tomorrow is Christmas eve and my company is closing down at 5pm, so I get to work an early shift. Today was the company Christmas luncheon and damn it was hella good. All sorts of good stuff, plus the usual christmas dessert goodies, and the best part it was free. I just came from a company that the employees basically had to pay for everything themselves, so it is nice to be with a company which shows some appreciation once in awhile.

Two days after Christmas is the big UFC Show of the year, which features three fights that could be main events of their own cards. It's gonna be huge. Lots of people coming over, a couple folks I haven't seen in a long time that used to be part of the regular group. The booze is definately going to be flowing.......and then.....

The Day after is the Redskins game, which I am prepping for either tomorrow or on Christmas day. Instead of doing fajitas, I am going to use the flank steak for steak sandwiches on hoagie rolls. I am going to use the marinade everyone loves. It looks like we have a pretty big tailgate group again, maybe on my next blog entry I will post a pic or two if they are uploaded by then. It kinda sucks that the Redskins got eliminated from playoff contention the week right before this game, but since I live on the west coast I have to take every oppurtunity I have to see them. Next season they come out to Oakland(*gulp*) and San Diego. So that will be two times I get to see them, hell yeah!!!

So All in all I have a huge holiday weekend in store...and I can't freakin' wait.

Happy Holidays, fooz!!

DVD/Blu-Ray marketing practices......

I dunno who else is paying attention but the retail marketing practices are pretty disgusting these days.

Standard DVD prices are being slashed like crazy lately(not just for Christmas but in general too). Now, this may seem like a great thing, but here is the bigger picture. Blu Ray players are also coming way down in price. So basically what is happening is, these companies want people to buy up as many standard DVDs as possible, and then go out and buy a new affordable blu-ray player, so they can go ahead and re-buy everything on blu-ray, partaking in what many refer to as "double-dipping"

On top of that, it seems like most movies being released on blu-ray(besides new releases) are being released in bare-bones fashion.(No extra features, no special edition, just the theatrical cut) For example, I own the Terminator 2 Ultimate edition on standard dvd. This same version is not on blu-ray yet, however the bare-bones edition of T2 is on blu-ray. So what these companies want me to do, is go run out and buy the bare bone version on blu-ray NOW, and then six months from now, they will transfer the Ultimate edition to blu-ray. I am sorry but all these special/limited/collectors/directors cuts should get automatic transfers. There is no reason other then corporate greed to be releasing bare bone version of movies on blu-ray when we all know it is quite easy to transfer any version that is currently out on standard dvd, into high def.

My advice to anyone looking to upgrade to blu-ray, is to stop buying DVDs altogether until you either:

A) Upgrade to HD

B) Never plan on upgrading until that is all that is available

Otherwise you are going to fall into the trap of buying all these DVDs at a cheap price, and then want to buy the blu ray versions later.

Christmas comes early....sort of.

Well, it seems like every Christmas season there are one or two things that come out right early enough before Christmas that I just can't wait and end up buying.

This year it was.............

"The Dark Knight" blu-ray dvd. It would have made an easy gift for anyone to get me, but there is no way I could have walked the aisles of stores seeing it sitting there, wanting to watch it so badly, and not pick it up. So I just made it easy on everyone and bought it myself. I am about to watch it for the first time since seeing it in the theater, and whats cool is the blu-ray edition is basically the IMAX version(which I didn't get a chance to see). So it has all the enhanced wide angle shots which is going to be cool.
I might actually have time to watch it a 2nd time on DVD this saturday with some friends because it is supposed to rain for four days straight starting tomorrow which would keep me from discgolfing this weekend.
Well....enough of this, it's movie time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Podcasts

So since getting decent enough at my job to where I am not asking questions and/or for help every five mintues, the days have started to slow down a bit. I am not into listening to the radio for very long because the same songs tend to repeat ad naseum regardless of what station i flip to, and most of the AM radio programs I used to listen to back in the day either end before I start work, or are now longer aired in the Sacramento market. :(

The solution: PODCASTS!!!!

Pretty much any genre or discussion theme you are looking for is out there. Some are better then others, but if you get a hold of a good one, it makes the day fly extremely fast.

Right now I am listenting to some SHOOT interviews by various wrestlers. If you are one of my "wrestling-geek" friends, you know what I am talking about, if yer not, then explaining it will be a waste of time. I just downloaded Raven's Secrerts of the Ring part 1. Since I am leeching, I can download a limited amount per 24 cycle, so I will just get 1 part a day until I have all four parts. I also downloaded his 2000 WOL appearance.

Since I am also into film/movies like crazy, I downloaded a show from CHUD.com, it was hilarious and had me literally LOL'ing at my desk. I think I am going to suscribe even though they don't put out new content very often.

Podcastalley.com is a huge database that will surely have what anyone interested is looking for.

Here's to another day of work flying by(FRIDAY Whoo Hoo), and another weekend on the horizon!!!

Happy Thanksgiving.......

A few hours early, but not sure if I will have time tomorrow so say it in my blog. Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you are having fun, scarfing down some good eats, and drinking yourself into oblivion(haha). Oh and watching football as well!!

New Course...must go...

So plans have been made for me and Ruben(brother-in-law)to go check out the new placerville disc golf course this saturday. They have had a small little 9-hole'r for awhile but they built a new 18 basket course right on Finnion Lake and the description sounds pretty nice. Hopefully we can get a big group but with it being a holiday weekend, lots of people are going to have family and other comittments, which is understandable. So if me and Ruben have to be the scouts to go check it out and give our feedback to the other regulars then so be it.

In case you guys didn't know http://www.deepdiscount.com/ is always a great place to buy dvds(and other stuff) online, but it is even better now because they are offering free shipping and are having a promo sale. Just type in "dvdtalk" when you go to checkout and it takes I think 20% off. Place your orders for Christmas fast though cause I am not sure how long either promo lasts....haha, wow that sounded like a goddamn commercial. (If only I got paid for it)

So here is a pic of a new disc I got my hands on courtesy of big mike. It's an Innova Starmax, and it's a tad heavier then the SL I have. (175 compared with 171). I have been using a Star SL for awhile now and it has done me good, but I always like to try out new discs every so often just to see how they effect my game whether it is positive or negative, or if I happen to come upon a disc that is great for certain conditions........Take a look....

Employed.....

Yes, I am back to work. I have been for about a week and a half now. Not my ideal job and I am driving a little further then I would like to but hey, it was nice only being out of work for a week before getting a paycheck again.

I am still filling out applications and applying to "good" jobs because that is my goal. I saw some openings for Yolo County Court Clerk(s) that looks appealing, and I have all the necessary education/experience/skills. Hopefully I get that as the pay starts out pretty decent.

It's almost Thanksgiving and for the first time in a few years I will be making multiple stops, (2). Good thing both places are within a mile of each other. I am trying to talk Jen into making a homeade sweet potato pie this year cause I really like them and have never had one homemade. For Christmas she is making the homemade eggnog w/rum which is fucking amazing. I can't wait.....Ack, Christmas? So Soon? I don't even wanna think about that shit yet......

Finding a job......

So I haven't blogged too much lately because I am searching for a good job and that is taking most of my time.....I think I may have found one. I was called for a data entry job by an employment agency and passed all the tests with flying colors and did a successful interview. So after eating lunch and heading home, I get a call back saying they have another available position with that company's sister company and I wouldn't even have to interview. So I said "ok" so they are passing my resume along to them and if they say I'm qualified, then I could be starting tomorrow or the next day(since tomorrow is technically a holiday)!

Wish me luck, this would be a good job with a good company that has longevity and potential for a lot of growth. This would be such a positive turn around compared to the situation I was in before.

Am I finally free......?

I think I might have been fired from my job.....all indications point to me being fired, but I haven't been outright told this yet......I sure hope so!!!

Update coming soon..........

I went to the movies....

So I saw the movie "Quarantine" the other night. It was pretty good. I'd rank it above your standard stuff coming out these days. Of course, like most other hollywood horror flicks, it is a remake of a foreign film. A Spanish film called "REC" as in "record" I'm not going to go over the plot as anyone can find that out for themselves at www.imdb.com The film had some cool moments and it was an entertaining 90mins or so.

Before this, I hadn't been to the movies in awhile. It's not that I like movies any less then before, but at $10.25 a pop, I am more picky about what I am willing to spend my money on. Plus a lot of the more enjoyable films I have seen over the past year or so haven't even been in the theaters, they have been hidden jems I found through the grapevine on netflix.

In case anyone didn't know I have been using my myspace page as a place to put up movie trailers of movies that I like, that I figure most people haven't seen. It's not JUST gonna be horror movies(if that's what you are thinking lol).

Ok that's it for now, just waiting for Jen to get home so we can go to the gym and go grocery shopping(if my damn direct deposit goes through)

Choices.....

So I was looking at my various myspace pages today of people I know and I just couldn't shake the feeling of why some of these people have made the decisions they have made. I don't want to get too specific because the last thing I need right now is angry phone calls to my wife, but lets just say there are a handful of people in my "global network" of myspace friends, that made certain decisions a few years back. Decisions they OBVIOUSLY have regretted, but they felt and continue to feel that they have no other choice but to stay in the same situation, and quite frankly, make it worse by making more decisions to make their situation harder to end. This might sound vague-ish, but I am sure anyone who read this blog and knows the people I know can put two and two together.

I often refer to these people as "stupid" and "dumb" in conversation with some trusted friends/family, but then sometimes, like right now I kind of feel bad for them. I understand the concept of personal responsibility, and I fully believe in it, but I also can see how their background, upbringing, etc etc etc has brought them to make these decisions.

I often can't fathom why two or three bad decisions ago, they didn't just cut their losses, and actually do something to change the situation or better yet, just end the situation all together. In one case I see a vicious cycle that shows no signs of slowing down. In another case I am not exactly sure why this person is making these decisions.

And don't get me wrong, I know I am leaving myself wide open for the judgement of others, and that is perfectly fine. I can take it. If I can dish it out, I have to be able to accept it. I do.

I am really not trying to "judge" perse, but sometimes it is more about me wanting to sit these people down, shake them around a little bit and actually get to the root of why they felt they needed to make the decisions they did. I don't feel these people are "bad people" but I think they made some bad decisions.

Ok, this is probably about as deep as one of my blog posts will ever get....so enjoy it while it is still on the main page....hahahaha....

Hail to the Redskins......bitches

"Oh, they have a new coach, a new offense, a young inexperience QB.....and play
in the toughest division in football"....

blah blah fucking blah, 4-1 bitches....4 and fucking 1.

It's early still, I know, but goddamn the Skins beat Dallas & Philly on the road back-to-back, by grinding the football down their throats. Two of their biggest rivals. The Giants will get theirs when they come to Fed Ex, but for now the Skins have the Rams, Browns, & Lions coming up....lol. Lets hope the Skins can establish their will on those three garbage teams.

Go Skins!!!!

I wasn't planning on updating my blog today/tonight but I had something HI-larious to show everyone and it had to be now or it would "go away"

Q: What is this stupid picure doing in your blog?
A: It was my sweat-stained shirt after I got home from the gym today....hahaha...nope it's not jesus's image, more like (and I am borrowing this from 40 Year Old Virgin) A Man-O-Lantern image....hahahahahahah!!!

...................

.............that about sums it up. I sat down to update everyone with another blog entry and my mind was drawing blank.

My cousin's birthday dinner is Saturday at some Greek restaurant. I forgot the name but we have been there before and it was hella good. If I remember correctly we got the lamb chops last time and they were really tasty. The hummus was also great.

It's Thursday night and I am glad that another Friday is approaching. I bought a 20oz Newcastle to celebrate with when I get off work tomorrow.

Me and Jennifer are going to the Rythym & Ribs festival tomorrow evening, her boss is giving her free passes. This will be my third time going and it gets bigger and better everytime. This year should be no different.

I already mentioned Apple Hill next month, but there is also going to be the annual Fair Oaks Park Oktoberfest which is all the beer you can drink for I think, $20 or so. I went last year with Jen and some friends and we had a blast. We had to get Dennys on the way home to help sober us up. You just get a little 4oz sampling glass, but you can have it refilled as much as you want. This aint for people who only like "water-beer" such as bud, miller, coors. Not that I don't like those, but those are mainly for drinking quanity. If you want some beer to drink for taste this festival is the place to be......

Ok, an early friday start at work is calling me to bed....so that's it for now suckas.

Ice Cream Melting.....

As we speak a bowl of ice cream I scooped over 30 minutes ago is probably completely melted, yet I still decide to update my blog right now. WOW.

Redskins won Sunday, which is nice. They have a very tough first five games this season, including games at the Cowboys & Eagles. YIKES!!!

The weather is starting to get a little bit better, but damn has it been a long summer or what. At least the nights are cooling off once the sun sets.

Next month is Apple Hill. I love that place. The best cider and apple products around.

Ok this is a short update cause I got to get to that ice cream before it is chocolate milk....hahahahaha.

Oh I put a trailer for a japanese anime on my myspace page. It is pretty cool it's called "Vexile" Check it out people!!!

Updates & Stuff....

Still Job hunting....ya know how that shit goes. One minute you feel confident, the next you feel like you'll be stuck in a low-paying dead end job forever.......*throws something across the room*

For those that watch the UFC....Chuck Liddell got KTFO. It was devastating. Rumors are he wants to jump right back in to redeem himself by fighting Anderson Silva. Umm....that match will sell a PPV and draw a crowd, but really, does Chuck even deserve that fight right now? (Oh and hey a shout out to everyone that was over here Saturday, another kick-back goes off without a hitch)

Cut my hair again, shaved it down.

Football has started, Redskins look mediocre, but hey it's ONE GAME.

Just waiting on Jen to get home from work so we can go to the gym......

Oreo is getting better at sneaking out of the house, but he seems to have a routine down where he just wants to mess around and act like he wants to get brought back in before running off and exploring the fields for a day or so before he turns up at the front door ready to come in. Cooley always acts weird when Oreo is missing and he is constantly looking out the windows and door for Oreo.

Oh, there's Jen......

The Equalizer....

That's what I'm gonna call this disc.

So I was Disc golfing with Joe the other day and he suggested I give this disc a try since it was one he wasn't using at all. He had receieved this one from "Big Mike" and I guess it didn't just work out.....(for him)

So with my drives going nowhere with my Cyclone disc. (Not that I totally sucked with it, but I kind of reached the peak of what my throwing style could do with it) I decided to give it a try and it was an instant fit. My drives were noticeably longer from the first try and I was knocking off a point from each basket(well when I wasn't screwing up my putting hahahahaha). So Joe decided to let me have the disc if I helped pay for a putter he is going to buy next time we go to Hazel. I happily agreed.......

Heres to some more good times on the disc golf course(s)!!!

Anniversary....

Do you knooooow what todaaay isssss.....it's out Anniversary.........Well for those that know and care, today is Me and my wife Jennifer's 1st anniversary of marriage. It feels very weird saying "1st anniversary" considering how long we have been together, but I guess it all starts over once the actual marriage happens.

We aren't really doing anything special tonight because it is a Monday night afterall and were pretty exhausted after the gym, but I think we are going to go somewhere fancy to eat this Friday or Saturday....probably "A Taste of Brazil"

Well time to go do "happy marriage" stuff now.....LOL.

Oh and while I'm here;
  • Next UFC is Saturday September 6th....7:00pm

P.S. Stupid non-hotlinking allowing images I keep finding. I don't mind the images that don't work from the start, but I hate the ones where you hotlink it, it works for a few days and then suddenly turns into a red x like a bastard. Come on it was just a pic of a Mickey's beer bottle for crying out loud.

Have a Drink on me.....

Nothing much to say other then it's Friday night, just got back from a round of disc golf, the music is blaring, and I am about to crack open a 40 oz. of Mickeys. Hope everyone out there is having as good a time as I am......Here's to all you folks who make my life a little bit easier.......Have a drink on me fuckers!!!

Just say NO, to FO.....(fo-hawks that is)

Some people spell it "Fo-hawk" some, "Faux-hawk" it really doesn't matter. The important thing is that I am requesting that this trend comes to an end and soon. I dunno what annoys me more this or the "oversized sunglasses that can double as a face-sheild" trend.

Typically, these trends start in southern california, namely, HOLLYWOOD, and seep their way outward and eventually trickle their way up here. Well the Fo-hawk has lived for long enough and can kindly die a quick, painless death now......PLEASE.

Dude, if your going to do it half-assed, why even do it at all? Just take the plunge and get the goddamn MoHawk. It's 2008 you won't be judged that harshly for having a MoHawk.

I guess I shouldn't care because quite frankly, it aint my head of hair, but I just get perturbed when people try to take something that is somewhat unique and wild and they have to find a very watered-down, "safe for everyone" "acceptable" version of it. A Fo-hawk is so bland and run of the mill, just about anyone who has a head of hair can do it. A MoHawk on the other hand takes a set of balls to go through with. You have to get rid of the rest of your locks and just stick the top strip of hair straight up into the air. None of this "Oh I am just going to come all my hair to the middle and kind of primp it up" bullshit.

BALEEEED_DAT!!!

Job lead....other stuff

So today I got an email from a place I must have applied to awhile ago. Unfortunately, it is an employment agency but they said the assignment can last up to a year and become a full time position. Hopefully if I get an interview I can maybe talk them into direct-hire or at least make some type of commitment to me. It is basically a data entry position with a 6-2:30pm shift. The recruiter asked my permission to forward my resume and I said "yes" All the job is asking for is someone with strong "keyboarding/data entry typing skills" Ummm....if you know me, I DO HAVE THAT. It starts at a very modest $11-13/hr but that is embarrasingly more then I make now...lol(actually no lol), but the biggest draw for me is that office is located in Natomas which would be awesome to be able to save on gas, because that would put me AND Jen working in our own neighborhood. I'll keep everyone updated......

Oh and now to the "other stuff" UFC this Saturday.....those of you invited, you know who you are....if you wanna hang out, drink, watch some fights, and have fun (oh yeah and listen to a couple of drunk gals karaoke) then you know when and where to be on Saturday!!!

Are you ready for some foooooooooootball?

I am.....

So this Sunday kicks off another preseason with my Skins taking on the Colts. More importantly Two of my favorite all-time Skins (Art Monk & Darrell Green) are being inducted into the football hall of fame. Anyways, I kind of just made posted this blog as an excuse to post a picture of my tickets....hahahaha....so without further delay.....

Just a quick blurb....

So today at work I was attempting to post a blog from my phone just to see if it would work. Weeeellllll......I got all the way to the page right before the page that allows you to actually type in the post itself when I got the dreaded "insufficient memory" message from my phone......So no, there will be no posting blogs from my phone now or ever.....(or at least until I get a phone that is better equipped for the web, but hey I like my phone dammit, it is a very good phone for people who talk & text and don't do much else on their phone, not to mention it has a powerful speaker phone feature that comes in handy when you don't feel like spending almost $100 for a decent blue tooth piece that works "sometimes")

That's all.

I might start dieting again...

So, I haven't been dieting in a few months, instead I have been going to the gym. I haven't gained any weight back but I am not losing it as fast/as much as I was when I was dieting & going to the gym. The only trade-off would be to go the gym more frequently and/or step up the difficulty of my workout and really I am not trying to go more then 3-4 times a week which I currently do.

Low Carb dieting(which I was doing) wasn't really hard perse, but one thing it did that I did not appreciate was take away the spontanuity of eating. If you know me, you know I like food. I enjoy constantly trying different things at the drop of a hat. If I get home from work or the gym and I feel like sushi, chinese, thai, indian, mexican, vietnanmese, italian etc etc etc....then I want to be able to go get some of that and enjoy what I am eating without having to worry about every drop I am eating. This doesn't mean I need to GORGE myself with whatever food I am eating, but nonetheless I want to eat what I want to eat when I want to eat. This also doesn't mean I am not going to have common sense enough to try and cut out junk-ier type stuff like chips & most snack food.

I think I am just going to try something new starting monday, which is to basically eat fruit for breakfast and lunch and then just eat whatever the hell I want for dinner, but a reasonable portion. I won't go back for seconds and thirds or do the whole "well shit, it's just sitting there....I better eat it before it gets tossed" routine that I always talk myself into, lol.

Hopefully this, coupled with the gym will help get my weight-loss results back to speed to where they were when I was low carb dieting + going to the gym. Oh and yeah the low carb diet did work and all, but I just don't like the idea of having to convince myself that I am never going to eat certain types of foods for the rest of my life in order to stay fit....I just can't do something like that forever. If need be, I can always go back to low carb for a limited time though, that is plan b.

Happy hunting!!! (For your next meal that is)

The weather...and other tidbits...

It's only mid-way through Summer, but damn the weather has taken a turn for the O-K, lately. It is cool in the morning, hot during the day and then nice and breezy/cool again at night. This probably isn't going to last long as I heard the weatherman mention three digit temps on their way back....(I got off the treadmill before the actual weather report though). I was talking to Deanna today at work and she mentioned how great it is, that feeling of a nice cold bedroom that makes you want to get in the covers. I totally agree. My Wife will be under three blankets if the room is as cold as I want it to be. One thing I loathe is a hot bedroom....well.....I guess a "hot" bedroom is not always a bad thing though....lol, but after THAT particular activity is done, the fans are coming on and the window is sliding open.......

  • I saw "Dark Knight" it lived up to the hype. Fucking Awesome.
  • Joe scored some free passes to "Step Brothers" it looks hella funny. Seeing it Thursday.
  • Next UFC party is August 9th, can't wait to see and drink with all of you crazy-asses again
  • Bullet points in a blog....!?!

...till next time.

If you like Pina Coladas.....and other complete randomness

So first off, my birthday party went well. Nice, drama free party. Lots to eat, lots to drink and a bunch of friends & family over to chill and have a good time. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Thanks everyone for making it a chill time.

Strangely, until last night I had let my favorite cocktail...the Pina Colada, elude me the entire summer thus far. Well after making a couple homemade blender-fuls last night I am surely not making that mistake again. This saturday I am going to be drinking these fruity concoction well into the night....mmmmm.

I have free passes to The Rocker tomorrow night. It looks decent, but not sure it is a flick I would see if not for having free passes for. The Big One....The Dark Knight releases this week and hell yeah I am going to see it Friday....I would consider going to the midnight show but it is probably already sold out :(

I just found out Sacramento has a Brazllian steakhouse similar to Espestus which I mentioned in an earlier blog. Scroll down and read about it if you wanna know more. With my 1 year wedding anniversary as well as my wife's b-day coming up, I can think of two great reasons to go there......

A lot going on this saturday. Disc Golf, a birthday for a friend of a friend....and two seperate MMA shows going down.....that is a lot to fit in one day.....I'm gonna try....wish me luck..!!!

.....Empty Ice Trays....grrrr...

.....So this one is going to be short & sweet because I am just waiting for a system update to download for the PS3.....( I ran into a former co-worker while on jury duty and we are gonna play some Madden online...)

I like ice in my drinks....if you know ME, you probably already know that. The only way for me to have ice is for there to be water in the ice trays.....no water, no ice, no "ice cold" drinks. I don't care if it is the hottest day of summer, or the coldest day of winter, I want motherfucking ice in my motherfucking beverages. I don't care who else uses the ice, because I am sure plenty of other people enjoy ice as much as I do....but for the love of all that is decent, refill the goddamn ice trays if you use the ice in them.....
Got it......!?!
Plz See Below....!!!

Ok then....Thanks.

Insomniac....

So it's 5AM on July 1st and I am awake posting a new blog entry.......I woke up a couple of hours ago and really haven't attempted to go back to sleep. I have weird sleeping patterns. I sleep like a rock, but once I wake up I am UP. This isn't always a good thing as I do work a job day-shift and I often to go work half-asleep and don't really feel awake until just before lunch break which puts me right back to the state of insomnia due to the down time.........Speaking of Insomnia/Insomniac Which reminds me, does anyone remember this show.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insomniac_with_Dave_Attell? I wish I had THAT job. I really miss that show.....

I think I am going to stop this blog entry and attempt to go catch a couple hours of sleep before my alarm rudely wakes me up for a job I truly can't wait to NOT have to wake up for any longer.......So here's to all you other insomniacs out there.....

....Cheers.....

P.S. I lost my goddamn Guiness black hat. I am sure it is around here somewhere, but knowing me it is somewhere I will never check and will be lost for a few years before it randomly is found for no good reason at all. On one hand it is a good excuse to buy a new black hat, on the other hand, hats are way fucking expensive these days.....overpriced for sure, and my Guiness hat was a good hat. I liked it, and it was still in very good shape. I think I am going to buy another black hat tomorrow night.....I dread going to "Lids" or somewhere else where I am sure to overpay by about $15, but hell where else can I find something halfway decent? I know...the internet....but me wants a hat now........*ugh*

5:30AM.
Goodnight.

Paaaaarty time foos.......

So tomorrow night Me and Jen are hosting her cousin Joe's 29th birthday party at our house. No food, bbq, appetizers........basically we getting' down to bid-ness and getting f'uuuuuuuucked up, lol.

I had this plan laid out I devised. I would take Joe our disc-golfing after work until the sun goes down, meanwhile Deanna would be gathering everyone up and people would be showing up and making final preps. So when I came back with Joe at sundown it would kind of be a "suprise" I mean the party itself isn't a suprise, but it would still be kinda neat for him to walk into a house fool of friends/family wishing him a "suprise" happy birthday all at once....haha......

Well as of now I would categorize this plan "in progress" neither Jennifer or Deanna are too excited about this plan because it would involved Me and Joe away from them for an extended amount of time on Friday, and we already did go out and disc golf on wednesday.....but hey it is not a lost hope and I can try to talk them into it tonight and tomorrow while at work.......Lets hope the ladies come around on this...........By the time the party starts I am going to be thiiiiiiiirs-tay!!!

Disc Golf.....

So I have amped up the amount of disc golfing I have been doing over the past couple of months. My brother-in-law got me interested in this sport/activity about five years ago. I used to go through these phases where I would go a bunch within a couple of weeks, and I would show a little improvement, but then end up not going again for a few months at a time, so the little amount of improved skill would usually evaporate.

Over the last couple of months I have gone at least once a week, and usually to courses that have 18 holes/baskets. I have gone as far as grass valley, and can't wait break my cherry on some courses farther away, like Navato, CA & Santa Cruz.

The only problem is that the best time to do this with the group I go with, is on the weekends, and that is always going to cut into family time, which is not something to be cutting into on a regular basis. (well without hearing about it later) It's ok when the course is close to my house because an 18 basket course can be busted out in a couple of hours, but once we start taking road trips to courses that take an hour or more to get to, we run into problems and conflict....

My long distance drive is getting better(but can never be "too long"), but I still need tons of work on my putting. Well isn't that ironic, I just got a text to setup a gameplan for some Friday afternoon disc golfing......I guess that's my que to end this entry.....

Accidents happen.....usually I prefer to do the rear-ending..lol

So I can officially say I have been in a car accident now. It took umm...almost 11 years. Yesterday coming home from work I was about a mile from my house, stopped at a red light, and WHAM....hit from behind. The weird thing was, as the truck was approaching me I kind of noticed he was getting pretty close to me, but it seemed like he was going slow enough to be able to stop. So, at least it was the crappy car that got hit and not the van. So lucky me, I get a free new bumper and a free rental car. Hopefully it takes a long time for them to order and receive the new bumper, lol. The other driver was pretty courteous about it, apologizing and making sure I was alright, and he immediately got his insurance papers out. I think he was driving for work so he was in kind of a hurry to get back on the road. Once I called the insurance companies, they got a hold of him fast and he admitted it was his fault and everything so thank gawd an "investigation" was avoided. Overall I'd have to say it was a pretty positive experience considering the conditions......now.....lets just hope it never happens again.

Espetus.....

Ignore the fact that the word "Espetus" kinda sounds eerily similar to "Asbestos" LOL.

Espetus is a brazilian steakhouse in San Francisco. If you are a meat-eater this place might be your Mecca. It is also a place you are probably going to go to no more than once or twice a year. Be prepared to spend money like you never have before on lunch(or dinner).

I went for lunch with my wife, best friend, and his brother. Even though "steakhouse" is in the title, it is not really what one would consider a traditional steakhouse. It is a buffet of grand proportions. We arrived on time for our 1:00pm reservation and we were seated right away. They basically explain how the place works. There is a salad bar with lots of side dishes, such as potato salad, sliced tomatoes w/basil & olive oil, coleslaw, steamed rice, baked salmon, various meaty stews, guacomole, eggplant etc etc etc. While this in itself could be considered a meal, THE MEAT is what you are there for, and boy are you in for a mountain full of it. The Servers come out of the kitchen which huge chunks of meat on gigantic skewers, which they carve your slice from and you are given a tiny pair of tongs to take the meat and put it on your plate. The host explained that the little plastic disc on our table was actually an indicator for the servers. Keep it green side up and the servers will keep coming to your table with various different kinds of meats to slice up for you. If your plate gets full or you need a rest to breathe, flip the disk over to it's red side and the servers will stop bringing food. Then when you are ready to chow down again flip it back over to green.

This place strictly employs the "medium rare" style of preparing meat, which to me is the best way. Most of the time though there will be plenty of pieces on the skewers that are more well done and they will make sure to give those pieces to people that want their meat more well done.

I think for the four of us the bill came out to $185 w/tip....yeah OUCH, although two of us ordered sodas which are charged by the bottle and the bottles they give out are the mini-bottles, and we also ordered a dessert. Trust me it is worth it for a one time shot(or annual visit).....you will leave pleased.

Hung over......

It doesn't happen often, but when it does it sucks. Off all places, my stepdaughter's 10th birthday party....lol. It just goes with the territory though. Beer & alchohol......among "other recreational substances" are pretty much a given when all of us get together, and there is usually never a "say when" moment until everyone is too tired to lift their drink or someone gets that moment of clarity and realizes we all have to be up for work the next day......

So I really wanted to call into work today, even moreso once I tried to stand up and get ready for work, but.....but nothing I guess cause I have to actually get started at work, so that's all for now.........

Stuff I geek out about!
