Organization?

In the "near" future, I might be trying to organize and focus this blog on something a little more specific.

Up to now it has been pretty random. It has felt more like extended facebook posts of randomness. Not that is bad I guess. I mean it is my blog afterall, no one is forced to read it, however I kind of want the blog to reflect something different, a re-occurring theme even.

I am thinking of changing it to a TV/Movies/videogames blog. Basically give my thoughts on what I am currently watching & playing. Since my podcast is about "retro" stuff, I can make my blog more focused on current stuff.....

Yeah that's the ticket.

To clarify, I am not saying I am only going to mention things that happen to brand new. They might be old or new or whatever. It will just happen to be whatever I am currently doing....

The team is well on it's way to another 6-10 - 8-8 season.......

Podcast on youtube.....

So I did a test run on some vlogs, and I am going to hold off on attempting them until I have better equipment and until me Doug, Shawn, & myself have time to actually collaborate on making something.

So instead, what I am going to do is upload all of our podcast episodes to youtube, and starting with the current episode(5), I am going to add pictures to it that are relevent to the movies being reviewed. I will play around with some video editing software and see what I can come up with....

Here's hoping it comes off presentable.....

So full.....so many leftovers

Yep. It's like that!

Happy Deep Fried turkey day!

It took me to the depths of my patience, but we found a turkey deep fryer last night....yes on Thanksgiving-eve......our fault completely for waiting, but I made it happen.....

So the deep-fryer has just been assembled.

Problem #2.....I have zero experience with propane, propane tanks and how to check gas flow and light the burner and all that jazz.....I have been BBQing since I could stand, but I am a charcoal guy....So basically I hope I get it all figured out.....Luckily it will only take a little over an hour to cook this sucker, so I have plenty of wiggle room time.....

For now...time to cook up some hot buttered rum and enjoy the hot drink on this chilly day!

Lack of Sleep + work day = uh-oh.....

I made an error in judgment last night.....did not get nearly enough sleep....and now I head off to a job where I sit around, type, and listen to podcasts......

Did I forget to mention?

The podcast recording of ep. 5 has been delayed to next weekend. Which also means the vlog has been delayed until then as well since I am cruising solo this weekend. Sure, I could have thrown something up just to do it, but naaah.

No worries, everything shall be back to normal next weekend!

Redskins win!

Nice effort by a team coming off of a demoralizing defeat last week.....the team showed their toughness and showed they are not giving up on this season.

Redskins are 5-5 and still very much alive. Two huge tough games left against the NYG....

Next up Minnesota @ home....winnable game.

So this is my first official blog entry from the new(old) computer. Yep it is back in my possession and upgraded and running like new.

Picked up a cheezy speaker set up for it that will be upgraded eventually, and probably a webcam as well.

Dunno if I will ever get used to the tiny backspace button though,,,,yuck.

Oh and the podcast got delayed until next weekend.....so yeah there's that....ok....

Nope....of course not.

It'd be nice if I was typing this blog from that other computer I was supposed to have back by now, but of course, it just couldn't be!

The computer is technically fixed, but now the trouble of not having an OS for it. Windows XP on the original hard drive is jacked up, so there is nothing for the new hard drive yet. So the yeah, computer is fixed, but I need to have a plan of what to get on the new drive. Oh and spending $200+ on Windows 7 is not one of the options....haha.

Computer #2 coming home tonight.....

If all goes well, I get my computer back from the "shop"(friend's house) today...been a long journey with that one, but looks like all is about to be well....now to find a spot for it....hmmm......

To Vlog or not to Vlog?

Well, considering it took me long enough to get into the world of consistently blogging, I have mixed feelings about stepping it up a notch by starting to vlog.

If I start it, I don't want to half-ass it. That doesn't mean I want daily content going up all the time, however if I vlog, I want it to be significant. Not "important" perse, but I don't to get into a habit of throwing up videos of me saying "hello" and making goofy faces for five minutes and calling it a night. Haha.

I know regardless of what I post, most people who see it will think of it as pointless and dumb, which I am fine with, I just want whatever I create to be significant to me.

With that said, if time and cooperation with technology permits, I think I will create and attempt to post(immediately following) my first vlog this Saturday right before we record out 5th episode of the podcast. We are recording this episode over here, so I will probably put Doug in the vlog as well, I am sure he won't mind. Eventually once Shawn gets out here, he can be a vlog too.

So, look forward to some meaningful content on a weekend for once....!

Been a few days.....

Now that I've returned to full-time work(for the rest of 2010) I am going to have to figure out how to fit in daily blog entries under a new schedule. Don't worry, I still have plenty of nonsense to ramble on about, just gotta figure out how to get a new routine down in order to blog about it...

'Skins are on MNF this week...so today I can sit back and relax for football Sunday.

Also, the job is going fine. Pretty simple data entry job.

Returning to podcasts with open arms(and ears)

So ever since I've been unemployed, I admit I have slacked off listening to a bunch of podcasts. Not that I am obligated or required to or anything, but I do enjoy some of them very much.

The thing is, without the free time to kill, it can get difficult to find 1-2 hrs(per show mind you) to sit around at simply press play without having to pause it every five minutes because something comes up.

Well, through the rest of 2010, I'll likely be employed, and if the first day of work is any indication of what's to come, podcasts a'plenty will be playing in my cubicle!

So I made some chili today...wanna see?

So it's the last day of relaxin' until I start a new job tomorrow, which will last through the holidays....good timing as I wasn't sure exactly where we were going to come up with the extra cash for Christmas. Problem solved! Data Entry job! Those are the best, because I know going in it is something I won't have a problem with.......

So I spent the better half of the morning making some homemade chili. I had to make 2 crockpots of it since Jen takes hers without Bacon or the hot stuff.....It's cooking now and will be ready to chow down on this evening. I can't wait to dig in....now if I could just find that cornbread mix, we'll be set!

Here is the base: Onion, green pepper, cumin, cayenne pepper, dried oregano, black pepper, salt, chili pepper,bacon



Here is the chili once the ground meat, and tomato sauces, diced tomatoes and tomato paste has been added, but as you will see, there is one ingredient still waiting


Here is the final ingredient being added to what is going to be a delicious dinner!

Job for the holidays! *woot*

Well I just got called for the job I mentioned a few posts ago. Looks like it's a go! They want me to start Wednesday @ 8am.....looks like I will have the extra cash I need to get me through the holidays! NICE!

Once I start I will let you know exactly what I'm doing. "Data Entry" can mean lots of different things, something I have learned throughout the years!

Walking Dead renewed for a 13 episode season 2....

Ratings were again huge for the second episode.

I am really digging the show so far. I consider it a companion piece to the comic, not a replacement, so if you like the tv show, get out there and reward Kirkman for his hard work and buy the comic too. This s how is proof that you can turn a comic into a quality show without just shooting everything frame by frame exactly the same.

Kudos to all involved!

Monday musings....ep 5 of podcast recording date & movies

So even in their bye week, the Redskins manage to lose. Brandon Banks had knee surgery, expected to miss 2 weeks, and Chris Horton goes on the IR.....*yay* bye week!?!

Went disc golfing over the weekend for the first time in awhile. Lately I have either been working on Saturdays or the weather sucked too much. Did decent. We played doubles, and ended with a tie. We par'd the course, which is decent for me. Missed a few birdie opportunities along the way, but also made a couple long birdies through some rough patches of nature, so that was cool.

Besides that, just spent the weekend relaxin' watched a bunch of football, laughed as the Cowboys probably put the final nail in the coffin for their season. Wade Phillips fired, Garrett promoted. As if that is going to work....Eagles & Giants both won, so that's not good.

Going to be making homemade chili tomorrow to have for dinner the next couple of nights. Nice chilly weather is a great time for homemade chili. I can't wait. Always remember the bacon! I think I will post some pictures and maybe list the recipe.

Our november podcast will be recorded on the 20th, and we are reviewing Seven, The Game, & Fight Club. In case you didn't get the connection...they are all David Fincher directed flicks. Panic Room was considered, but not all of us have seen it, so it got nixed.

After my last post of "serious business" I figured I can't let a Friday come & go without something more light-hearted...so just doing a final check-in today to say I will be getting buzzed drinking screwdrivers and playing Madden 11 and other games tonight!

Halloween post-show report....

So, Halloween was a success. Watched some weird, scary, & bizarre flicks. Not to mention the series premiere of The Walking Dead, which was incredible!

Time to turn the page and enter Chapter 11 of 2010: November!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means I will probably be picking up extra hours at the kennel, since right now 91 cats are scheduled to be in there for Thanksgiving.

Of course if I happen to land another job that point will be moot anyway.

I have no idea about Thanksgiving plans.....I am guessing, phat gathering at Jens parent's house, that is usually a gimme!
